Book Recommendation: The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

It feels like I just wrote my very long review for this book. And I did. I read The Fault in Our Stars for the first time on December 19th. And today I read it again. And I know I will read it again and again. This book is just perfection. I'm not sure what else I have to say about this book that I didn't say in my review just a few weeks ago. But I will write something. I might also share a few teasers at the end. And some fan art that I have found that I love very much. There need to be more from this book.

The Fault in Our Stars is a perfect book. Full of heartbreak. Terrible, terrible heartbreak. I don't usually like the kind of pain that there is in this book. But in this one I wanted more of it. Which is kind of strange. I also wish the pain hadn't been there. But it was just so good. There isn't only pain, though. There are a whole lot of sweet moments. And funny moments. This book just has it all. It also has perfect writing, which was great. I'm glad that this book had it all. I enjoy perfect books a whole lot.

This is a book about living with cancer. It's the story of Hazel Grace. She has cancer in her lungs, and she is going to die, her doctors say. She got it three years ago, when she was just thirteen. She has to live with this oxygen tank attached to her nose at all times. Which is kind of sad. But I guess she's used to it, and she needs it to be able to breathe. It just sound so depressing, though, and I'm not sure I would be able to take it. So yeah. Hazel is a strong person. She's also sweet and kind and protective.

Hazel is just an amazing person. She does everything her parents want. Which I also found a bit sad, but I'm glad that she cares so much. She doesn't go to normal school, but she takes a few college classes. She reads a lot. And I loved that. There is this one book that she loves. She just loves everything about it, and her love for it is so real and I adored it. She has written a lot to the author of the book, but he never responds. It's been ten years since he wrote this book. Then Augustus show up.

Augustus is a perfect person. He's handsome. Funny. Kind. Sweet. Loving. They meet at this cancer support group. I might have disliked this group thing a lot. Seemed so depressing. And a bit annoying. But I adored Augustus and Isaac. Anyway. Gus is perfect. I love his name. We get to know him so much in this book. And I loved every scene with him in it. And he's mostly there. He and Hazel has such a perfect relationship. They are best friends from the first time they meet. It's so sweet and honest.

Gus also has cancer. Well, he's been free of it for fourteen months. He lost his leg because of it. And that was pretty heartbreaking. But also so perfect. I do love a broken boy. He isn't just broken, though. He's so strong. And I adored that about him. I also loved his best friend, Isaac. He has eye cancer. And that sucked so much. Sniffs. I also hated his goddamn girlfriend. She was awful. Grrr. I wish we had gotten to know a few more things about her before the book ended. But still. I'm okay with it, maybe.

I wish this book had been longer. I wish the ending had never happened. I wish the romance had been even bigger. But yeah. The romance in this book is perfect. It doesn't happen right away. Although the feelings are there. But when it does happen, it is just so perfect. Hazel and Gus is just perfect together. And I wish we had seen even more of that. Another book, maybe. I want outtakes. They are just so amazing together. So happy and sweet. I loved reading about them, how much fun they had as well.

I loved the part when they went to Amsterdam. I loved it so much. It was a perfect trip. So, so perfect. But also so sad and heartbreaking. We got to know more about the author that she loved. That she got Gus to love as well, she got him to read the book. And I loved it as much as she did, I think. And omg. It is just so heartbreaking and awful. Makes me nervous about contacting authors.. But yeah. I'm hoping not everyone is that awful. Some is. But I have had contact with many nice ones as well, thankfully :)

This may be totally wrong of me to think, and then to share here. But yeah. This book made me want to get cancer. Because of the people you might meet. And all the Cancer Perks. I loved reading about those. But I also don't want the pain. I have enough pain on my own, with the three chronically diseases I have. I haven't met anyone like Augustus, though, which is a shame. I need my own Augustus. He is just perfect. And I very much wish he was real. <3 Anyway. This book made me feel so extremely much.

The Fault in Our Stars is just such a sweet book. It's funny. It is a book full of heart. It's exciting. And it will also break your heart into a million pieces. Which was perfect, to be honest. I need to read this book so many times. And you do too. You really need to read this book now, if you haven't yet. You will not regret it. Even though the ending is so awful. And heartbreaking. It is so good as well, though. And surprising. But still. It is perfect. I couldn't have asked for more, I think. Sigh. Buy it. Read it. Love it.

Some of my favorite quotes from this book. I think they are amazing. Sigh.

~

"Oh, I wouldn't mind, Hazel Grace. It would be a privilege to have my heart broken by you."
- Augustus, page 176

"My leg," he said. "Just so you're prepared in case, I mean, in case you see it or what --"
"Oh, get over yourself," I said, and took the two steps I needed to get to him. I kissed him, hard, pressing him against the wall, and I kept kissing him as he fumbled for the room key.
- Hazel, page 206

  5. Looks great. Reminds me of Jordan Sonnenblick's Ever After Ever. That was such a good read. I'll have to find this one too.
