Review: Antigoddess by Kendare Blake

I have been waiting and wanting to read Antigoddess for a long time now. Yet I've put it off for about a month after I got the book, because I was worried after having read other reviews. Turns out I had nothing to worry about. I loved this book like crazy. I loved every part; even that evil heartbreaking ending :)

I don't know how to describe this book. So I won't talk too much plot, because I would never be able to describe it in the right way. First, the writing in Antigoddess is amazing. I really loved it. It's pretty flawless and beautiful. And all the characters are amazing. I loved reading about all of them just as much.

The plot in Antigoddess is pretty amazing. It could be described as the Goddess war. Because there are gods in this book. And they are awesome. Well, they are dying, but they are still amazing to read about. I must admit though, that I know nothing about any of these gods. Haven't really interested me, though in this book they were amazing to read about and it wasn't a problem that I didn't know anything about them before.

The book starts from the point of view of Athena. She's a god. And she's pretty fierce. I adored her. Well, sort of. She does some bad things and she seems a bit heartless most of the time. But I understood her, somewhat. And I liked reading about her. I enjoyed her chapters a lot, though not the most. I loved reading about her and her brother, though they are both dying. Which was heartbreaking. It was a bit disgusting to read about her and the feathers.. yet I loved every moment. It was awesome.

I would say that Athena and Hermes are two of the main characters in this book. Though there are many. Like Cassandra and Aidan. I really, really loved them. We read a lot from Cassandra's point of view and I really liked her. She's awesome. She's kind and sweet. I loved that she and Aidan was a couple from the start. They are adorable together. And I loved reading about them so much. Sigh. Though some parts were hard to read about.. Sad face. But I loved them both so much. Aidan was amazing.

I also loved reading about her brother, Henry. He was pretty cool. Can't wait to read more about him. And her best friend, whom I adored as well. There are a lot of amazing characters in this book. I loved reading about all of them. Though Poseidon creeped me out. And I kind of hated Hera a whole lot. And Aphrodite. But oh, how I loved reading about all of them. Because they are made so well and they were awesome to the plot. Though my favorite character was Aidan, hih. He was very protective and loving.

I'm having trouble figuring out what to write about. So I just won't say much more. The writing is stunning. The characters are so amazing. And the plot is so good. Antigoddess is a perfect read. I'm so glad that I read it. Now I'm just going to be dying for book two. <3 But anyway. This book was really good and I think all of you would love it. I did, at least. Though I knew nothing about the gods I enjoyed this book so much. I loved reading about all the different characters. Everything was just amazing.

My thoughts about this book are a bit conflicted. Well, maybe not that conflicted. I loved it so much. It's an amazing book and I loved all the characters. I loved the plot as well, because it's a bit unique and it's a bit creepy as well at times. The book is exciting. I always wanted to know what happened next. But then. There was this one heartbreaking part at the end. And it made me cry so much. It just about broke my heart. I want it undone. Though I don't see how. But I wish it. Wish it so much. Sobs.

Big thank you to Tor Teen for the hardcover of Antigoddess for review. <3 And big thank you to Orchard Books for the paperback of Antigoddess for review. <3 I also pre-ordered the same editions, hih, so I have a few now :) I ended up reading a hardcover, though I like the title for the UK paperback the most so I'm using that image for my review post. The cover is awesome. Just want to mention that I adore Kendare and I cannot wait to read even more books from her. <3 She's an amazing writer and person.

  2. I'm currently reading this one and I'm glad you enjoyed it! I'm in the first half and it's a little slow and I'm pretty sure I'll have nightmares about feathers growing inside my body. Great review and I hope I'll enjoy Antigoddess as much as you did! :)

  3. I'm so happy you loved this one too! I love Greek mythology and loved how everything is brought up to today in a different but still very true way!
And I agree... that ending!! *sniff*

  4. Love your enthusiasm for this book! It didn't really work for me but it did make me want to become better acquainted with the original Greek myths as I wonder if I knew them better, if it would make this a more successful read for me.
